Jennifer Cockrall-King: I am the author of Food and The City: Urban Agriculture and The New Food Revolution, a book on the global movements in urban agriculture and urban food issues. Food and The City is published by Prometheus Books (2012). I am represented by Anne McDermid & Associates literary agency in Canada and the US.

I am also an independent journalist for many of Canada's best magazines pocket option and periodicals. My writing has appeared in publications such as Eighteen Bridges, Western Living, the Chicago Sun-Times, the National Post, Unlimited, Alberta Venture, City Palate, Homemaker’s, Maclean's, NUVO, UP! and many more publications.

From 2004 to 2009, I co-wrote and co-published a cooking journal with another Edmonton foodie, Terry Juzak. We covered the food, people and places of the Canadian Prairies. We have back issues of The Edible Prairie Journal and we're happy to see that they have stood the test of time and still sell (contact me for prices and such).

I split my time between Edmonton (Alberta) and the Okangan Valley (BC). Once a year, I switch from writer to conference coordinator and producer to put on The Okanagan Food & Wine Writers Workshop. Yes, it's as much fun as it sounds. It's open to writers of all levels. Basically, we eat, drink, wine tour, and fit in some professional development sessions to help you bring your food and wine writing to the next level. I bring in North America's top food and wine editors as guest instructors and the workshop is limited to 20 registrants to make sure that everyone gets a chance to learn in the three-and-a-half-day workshop in Okanagan wine country.

To balance my writing life, I have been training with the amazing Bushido Karate Association in Edmonton for over 14 years.

I am very grateful for the recognition and for the monetary prize that pocket option trading helps get through the final stages of writing and editing.
